What have I been up to...

It has been a while since I have posted here; So I thought that I should list a few things that have been happening in case you wish to take a look;

JJMorgan and Co. has been opened and has an array of exciting projects that are up and running and on the way.

I have been making progress in and out of the studio as I gear up for my trip to France in September this year for the Air Vallauris Residency.

And I have just been selected to take part in the SCANZ 2011: Eco sapiens Residency

'International Travellers Box' joins current 'Studio' project

The Travellers Box Project has now arrived in New Zealand and I have luckily been selected to be the first New Zealand artist to work with it.

A little history about the box.

Originating in Denmark, the boxes have travelled to several countries over the past 5 years; including Germany, Sweden, Norway, the UK and USA, where a series of artists have taken part in various forms of the project.
One of the objectives of the project is to expand on this growing international network, via artists collaborating directly (having the box and making work with it), and via those artists connecting with others also involved in the project, both in their own and other countries.

You can check the link above for more info and keep an eye out as I take this box with me up north to collect my studio pieces.

Artist Statement – Justin Jade Morgan

My OuterEdge Project is about the tools used within my practice.

We often, as viewers or makers of an object, tend to address the presented piece and the processes that are driving the overall intent of the work.

But how often do we think about the tools that the artist/maker has used to construct?

By unpacking my current practice and diving further into my studio;
I intend to address and open up questions around the relationship between my tools, their function and their value.
